Coach Matt Daly - Varsity

Profile: Coach Matt Daly is a native of Hendricks, Minnesota. At Lincoln High School, Matt was a four year varsity starter achieving All-Conference and All-Area status from 1997-2001. Matt was All-State in 2000 and 2001, and was Minnesota Class A Player of the Year in 2001. Matt ended his career as the all-time leading scorer at Lincoln High with 1,850 points. After graduation, Matt played four years of Division II college basketball at Augustana College and Southwest Minnesota State University. Coach Daly graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Secondary Education. Upon graduation Matt taught for four years at Redwood Valley High School where he served as assistant boy's basketball, head girls track, and head girls basketball coach. Coach Daly led the Cardinals to a sub-section championship in 2010 and the best win-loss record since 1979. In nine years at the helm of Lincoln's basketball program, the Patriots have achieved a State Consolation finish in 2015, a State Third place in 2018, and a State Runner-Up in 2019. Matt has been active in the last fifteen years coaching with the Dakota Schoolers basketball organization in Sioux Falls. Matt is currently teaching World History, Early History of Mankind, and Psychology at Lincoln High School.  In 2015, Coach Daly fulfilled his Masters Degree in History with high honors at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. He currently lives in Sioux Falls with his wife Crysta Daly and son Michael Christopher. 


Coach Scott Amundson - Junior Varsity 

Profile: An all over South Dakotan, Coach Scott Amundson was born in Pierre, but attended school in Lead, South Dakota. At Lead High School, Scott participated in football, basketball, track, and golf. After graduation, Coach Amundson enrolled at Southwest State University and played basketball there prior to transferring to Augustana College. In 1999, he began teaching in the Sioux Falls School District at Joe Foss School. After four years as a volunteer assistant with the boys program at Lincoln, Scott entered the girls program prior to the season in 2002. Scott has been the freshman, sophomore and junior varsity coach the past 16 seasons. Coach Amundson was named the Assistant Coach of the Year for 2013. Scott is currently teaching Physical Education and is the Virtual Classroom site coordinator at Lincoln High School. He lives in Sioux falls with his wife Shelly and three children Seth, Kate, and Ryan.

 


Coach Zak Fogle - Sophomores

Profile: Coach Zak Fogle is originally from Box Elder, South Dakota. Zak played five years of high school soccer, four years of basketball, and participated in two years of track and field. After graduation, Zak attended Presentation College where he played one year of soccer and basketball. Zak began his career in coaching at Douglas Middle School, coaching sixth grade boys’ basketball and seventh grade football. Coach Fogle spent three years coaching at Douglas High School, which included his primary role as the ninth grade girls basketball coach. After moving to the Sioux Falls area, Zak has been a volunteer coach at Harrisburg High School coaching girls' soccer, as well as serving as the Freshman Boys Basketball at Lennox High School. In 2021, Zak took on a role as an Educational Assistant for Canton School District and served as the junior varsity volleyball coach. In 2022, Coach Fogle became the freshman volleyball coach at Lincoln High School. Coach Fogle currently works in the Lincoln High School Recovery Room. Zak lives in Sioux Falls with his wife Katie Fogle (Oltmanns). They have three dogs Bentley, Beasley, and Bixley.

 


Coach Karli Soyland - Freshmen

Profile: Karli Soyland is assisting with the Lincoln High School Girls Basketball team for the first time this season. Prior to assisting, Soyland was a player on the basketball team for four years and graduated from LHS in 2017. Soyland is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts Degree. Her major is Exercise Science with an emphasis in Pre-PA in hopes of working in orthopedics and sports medicine. Her minors include Biology, Psychology, and Coaching. When she is not busy with school or helping with basketball, Soyland works as a fitness instructor at Fit Body Boot Camp, and is the assistant coach for the Augustana Dance Team. Basketball has always been a huge part of Soyland’s life. She started the sport at a young age and continues to seek for opportunities for her to stay involved in the world of athletics. Soyland has coached dance for the past 5 years and is eager to coach another sport she has a strong passion for. These opportunities have allowed her to learn the true meaning behind coaching.

 


Coach Hosea Kost - Volunteer Assistant 

Profile: Coach Hosea (Hoh-zay-uh) Kost is an Aberdeen, South Dakota, native and graduated from Aberdeen Roncalli High School. He is currently in his first year with the Lady Pats program as a volunteer assistant coach and, when he isn't in the gym with the team, works as the director of alumni engagement & event services at Augustana University. Coach Kost has also held internships in sports marketing with Sanford Sports and the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Coach Kost's path in athletics is unique. With no JV or varsity experience, Coach Kost began as a statistician for Roncalli's volleyball, football and girls basketball teams in high school. He attended Augustana University and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2020 with a bachelor of arts in sport management, media studies and anthropology. While at Augustana University, Coach Kost was a student assistant with the Vikings Men's Basketball team for three seasons from 2016-2019 under head coach Tom Billeter. As a student assistant, Coach Kost helped with day-to-day practices, player development, equipment management, assisted with development team practices and games, recording games/practices, and in-game stats. After Augustana, Coach Kost obtained a master of arts degree in communication in 2022 from the University of South Dakota with research on the experiences of minority coaches in collegiate coaching. While at USD, Coach Kost started coaching with Sacred Hoops, a club basketball program in southeast South Dakota, and continues to coach middle school and high school boys in the spring/summer.
